That’s All Folks!

thats-all-folks

Hey everyone! Welcome to my weekly wrap up where I write about what this past week was like..

And…….not much to write about today.. I didn’t do a whole lot. I didn’t go out much either. It’s my PMS week, yes I know, TMI but hey, this is my life and that is well, sadly, a huge part of it.. So my body isn’t feeling up to ‘par’ not that it ever is but it’s not feeling up to.. hmm……half the par it usually does? Do ya’ll know about the ‘spoon theory”? If not you can read about it here.

The gist of it is, people who have chronic illness, disability of some kind etc have limited amounts of energy so, we get a certain amount of spoons to use each day. This represents our energy. Each thing you do each day will cost you a certain amount of spoons. When you’re spoons run out, you should be finished with whatever you are doing and ready to rest. The reality is for most of us, we run out of spoons before we are halfway through with our day. Meaning, there are never enough spoons in the day just as people who aren’t sick say “there are never enough hours in the day”.

For me this week my motto is, “I’m always a day late and spoon short” see what I did there? It’s usually, ” I’m always a day late and dollar short” but since I don’t have any dollars either I just replaced it with spoons. Cleaver, yes I know.. Today, Friday, I discovered the art if you call it that, of listening to audio books. I want to try and finish the crochet blanket I’ve been working on for my husband for the last eight months before the cooler weather gets here but I can never seem to make myself sit still long enough anymore. I tried watching YouTube videos but can’t crochet and try and watch an interesting video at the same time so this morning I hunted for a free app on my phone and found one. It’s called LibriVox. I chose Jane Austins “Pride and Prejudice” not that I haven’t read and seen the movies a hundred times but I like it. I began listened and crocheting and ya know, I liked it! I found it very relaxing and it’s a good way to keep myself active while I can’t be active if you know what I mean.

I did go out on Thursday to take my two old boys Jake and Matty to the vet for check ups and nail clippings. I did get the results of Matty’s blood work today. It was not what we expected but, that’s a post for another day. I have the feeling my body is going to be keeping me it’s prisoner this weekend so I will be a couch and bed potato listening to my new found enjoyment of audio books and working on my husbands blanket when I can.. Yes I know, just so exciting my life is..

How was your week? What are your weekend plans?

Weekend In Review!

Hey friends! Been a busy weekend. We didn’t do anything too social but just kind of busy and lazy all at the same time.. Where I live they shot off the fireworks last week (still don’t understand why) so I missed out on the fireworks this year. I could have gone down to Broadway At The Beach in Myrtle Beach but no thanks.. The place is crawling with tourists, the traffic is hell and the heat and humidity are probably just as hot as hell is so we stayed home.

Saturday was a bit of a lazy day for all of us. It kind of looked like this.

Yes, Alvin has taken over the big orthopedic bed I bought for Toby because Toby would rather sleep on the crappy bed we have. Yeah, I don’t get it either..

And Sarah, well she couldn’t figure out if she wanted to be on the other bed or off so she did an in betweener.. Thats what we call it anyway.

On Sunday I finally got around to making the pizza with the cauliflower crust thats been floating around Facebook for like, forever.

20160628_170921

A word about this cauliflower crust pizza. One, if you’re going to make it don’t make the crust as thick as mine because the outside cooks but the inside stays a bit mushy and two, add some more spices than are in the recipe. While Lou said he liked it, it could have used more spices.. I forgot to add oregano and when it comes to pizza, oregano is a must have. All in all though, he said it was good and would eat it again. It was also pretty easy to make albeit a tad messy.

Sunday night we had our good friends Bill and Linda over for dinner. I had made a pan of stuffed shells in April that I froze so I just defrosted those and Linda brought the garlic bread. Was a good meal with good friends and good conversation.

And finally, I got around to taking a new selfie for my profile photos on all my social media. The one I’d been using is about six months old and my hair is finally getting longer. Yay! So I though it was time for a new one..

Lastly, we have had Alvin a little over a week now and we are all still trying to find our way around here as far as alphas, and space etc but, Alvin has chosen his favorite buddy and that would be…………Toby…… an Toby is loving every minute of it. Alvin is 5 pounds and Toby is 72 pounds but Toby is SO incredibly gentle with him and he lets Alvin just climb all over him and chew all over him and he just loves it. They have also taken to sleeping and cuddling together from time to time..

I hope you all had an enjoyable 4th Of July weekend that was safe and full of family, friends and blessings..

Until next time!

He's Doing Better!!

Hi everyone!
Sorry I didn’t update sooner its’ been a long week. I am happy to tell you that Toby got his staples out this past Thursday morning and he’s doing really well!.. He’s walking SO much better and he has even ventured out into the backyard again on his own. He had been afraid because his leg was so week and who could blame him but two weeks later his leg and balance are MUCH stronger. He’s also walking much, much better as well.. We still have another four to eight weeks to full recovery and to see if he will need the other hip fixed as well.

We are praying he will not but unfortunately, it’s a wait and see thing.. I want to thank all of you who have shared his GoFundMe page and who have already donated. So far, you have helped us make almost three worths months of payments on Toby surgery bill! Thank you!!

We are still One Thousand dollar away from our goal so if you would please continue to share Toby’s GoFundMe page with others we pray it will move the hearts of others to help pay down his bill. We may be looking at having to do this again so it would help SO much if this bill for this surgery was paid off before we incur another one..

Here’s a short video of Toby being able to play with his sister Sarah again. They missed playing together so much…

God bless you all and thank you again!

Anxiety & Worry

Some days I think it will never stop. Actually, it hasn’t my whole life. Between loss of loved ones, illness, poverty etc.. It has never stopped and probably never will.. I guess this is just my lot in life and one at my age I should have already accepted. For the most part I have but some days it’s rough and to say it’s not would be a lie…

Our newest worry is Toby.  Toby is now nine months old. He was diagnosed with Hip Dysplasia last week. He has it in both hips so both hips have to be repaired. The procedure he will be having is called TPO. It’s not a total hip replacement as the costs on that are almost prohibitive so veterinarians came up with a work around that according to statistics have an excellent success rate. Especially in young pups like Toby. Here are two photos of Toby. One taken at approximately 4 months of age and one taken today at nine months of age..

This is Toby as of today.

As you can see in the above photo, Tobys hips are completely disjointed. In the past week he’s been in pain despite medication to control it and he has a hard time walking. The right hip is worse than the left so we will be repairing the right hip this Thursday. Then it’s a six to eight week recovery and we will then go in and repair the left hip. As you can imagine this is expensive.

I have set up a GoFundMe page in the hopes we could get some help in defraying the cost which is $1000.00 US for each side making it a grand total of $2000.00 US. We have a puppy insurance plan for him but unfortunately it does no cover this and sadly, we are not rich people which is why I am hoping others will help. We would so greatly appreciate any help and also if you would please share Tobys GoFundMe Page with others.

Please keep Toby and us in your prayers..
