Saturday Snapshots – My Week In Review

What a busy week! As usual my intention was not to have such a busy week but it never seems to go that way….The beginning of the week consisted of running errands almost everyday in this unbearable heat. Here in South Carolina, all week it’s been in the high 90’s again with heat indices of 105 -110. Todays heat index was 117! Yeah, Im SO ready for fall and winter.

Thursday found me in a room that looked like this

And of course once they put you in a room that looks like this they let you sit there and wait and wait and wait some more and well, I am not good at waiting. It’s something I am working on with God. Learning to be more patient. It’s definitely not a strong point of mine so then I began to look like this

20160713_100154

That’s my “if the doctor isn’t in here in five minutes I’m leaving I don’t have anymore time to waste” look.

But at least my outfit didn’t look half bad. Yeah I still don’t know how to take an outfit of the day shot.

I did manage to make a good meal this week. It’s my own healthy version of chicken stir fry.

And poor Toby is just completely frustrated these days because he so badly wants to rough house

with his sister Sarah

But it’s just not possible yet.. Poor guy….. And Alvin learned a new lesson on Friday

20160715_191138

That you can’t go out in the rain and then run at mach speed into the house where you hit the tile floor because your legs will fall out from underneath you and you will slide across the floor into the table.. Yep, he did that.. Nope he didn’t get hurt and yes I laughed so hard I hurt my gut….

I spent the morning on Friday trying to make some sort of sense out of my craft/office/makeup room. I got 90% of it organized. Just some things left that I need to find homes for.

Makeup portion of the room. Yeah, it takes a lot for my face to look halfway decent.

Yes those are filming lights I use to make my YouTube videos. They make the wrinkles look better.

This is the office/craft portion of the room. Right now I’m just using the furniture I have on hand. Eventually I want white.

Didn’t come out too badly and at least I have a space and everything has a place to live for now..After I finished this without hurting myself surprisingly, I went to change that garbage bag you see off in the corner there and promptly pulled all the muscles in my chest on the right side so, once again I am off to the showers to see if I can make it feel better..

Hope you all had  a great week!

Weekend In Review!

13557663_1137903939602794_588968531344063777_n

Hey friends! Been a busy weekend. We didn’t do anything too social but just kind of busy and lazy all at the same time.. Where I live they shot off the fireworks last week (still don’t understand why) so I missed out on the fireworks this year. I could have gone down to Broadway At The Beach in Myrtle Beach but no thanks.. The place is crawling with tourists, the traffic is hell and the heat and humidity are probably just as hot as hell is so we stayed home.

Saturday was a bit of a lazy day for all of us. It kind of looked like this.

Yes, Alvin has taken over the big orthopedic bed I bought for Toby because Toby would rather sleep on the crappy bed we have. Yeah, I don’t get it either..

And Sarah, well she couldn’t figure out if she wanted to be on the other bed or off so she did an in betweener.. Thats what we call it anyway.

On Sunday I finally got around to making the pizza with the cauliflower crust thats been floating around Facebook for like, forever.

20160628_170921

A word about this cauliflower crust pizza. One, if you’re going to make it don’t make the crust as thick as mine because the outside cooks but the inside stays a bit mushy and two, add some more spices than are in the recipe. While Lou said he liked it, it could have used more spices.. I forgot to add oregano and when it comes to pizza, oregano is a must have. All in all though, he said it was good and would eat it again. It was also pretty easy to make albeit a tad messy.

Sunday night we had our good friends Bill and Linda over for dinner. I had made a pan of stuffed shells in April that I froze so I just defrosted those and Linda brought the garlic bread. Was a good meal with good friends and good conversation.

And finally, I got around to taking a new selfie for my profile photos on all my social media. The one I’d been using is about six months old and my hair is finally getting longer. Yay! So I though it was time for a new one..

Lastly, we have had Alvin a little over a week now and we are all still trying to find our way around here as far as alphas, and space etc but, Alvin has chosen his favorite buddy and that would be…………Toby…… an Toby is loving every minute of it. Alvin is 5 pounds and Toby is 72 pounds but Toby is SO incredibly gentle with him and he lets Alvin just climb all over him and chew all over him and he just loves it. They have also taken to sleeping and cuddling together from time to time..

I hope you all had an enjoyable 4th Of July weekend that was safe and full of family, friends and blessings..

Until next time!

He’s Doing Better!!

Hi everyone!
Sorry I didn’t update sooner its’ been a long week. I am happy to tell you that Toby got his staples out this past Thursday morning and he’s doing really well!.. He’s walking SO much better and he has even ventured out into the backyard again on his own. He had been afraid because his leg was so week and who could blame him but two weeks later his leg and balance are MUCH stronger. He’s also walking much, much better as well.. We still have another four to eight weeks to full recovery and to see if he will need the other hip fixed as well.

We are praying he will not but unfortunately, it’s a wait and see thing.. I want to thank all of you who have shared his GoFundMe page and who have already donated. So far, you have helped us make almost three worths months of payments on Toby surgery bill! Thank you!!

We are still One Thousand dollar away from our goal so if you would please continue to share Toby’s GoFundMe page with others we pray it will move the hearts of others to help pay down his bill. We may be looking at having to do this again so it would help SO much if this bill for this surgery was paid off before we incur another one..

Here’s a short video of Toby being able to play with his sister Sarah again. They missed playing together so much…

God bless you all and thank you again!

New Bouncing Baby Boy

20160624_155329

I bet you thought I was going to tell you I was pregnant didn’t you? Well dear friends, unless I am to be the second Immaculate Conception, (which just, NO) it ain’t gonna happen but.. It is a bouncing baby boy! A four legged bouncing baby boy. This is Alvin..

Alvin was given to us by our vet because they knew we would care for him. At first, Lou and I said no very strongly.. We have enough dogs, I just lost my beloved Bailey in May, I didn’t think I was ready for another dog let alone a fifteen week old six pound baby puppy and we can’t afford it.. Well, with much conjoling and promises made to us we broke and took him home.

Alvin is a Chihuahua Terrier mix. Eventually we will have a DNA test run to see exactly what he is mixed with. He’s getting along wonderfully with Toby and Sarah. No surprise there considering Toby and Sarah are only 10 months old themselves but I was a little taken aback at how nicely they play with him being that he’s only six pounds and they are seventy-two pounds a piece. Sarah can get a little rough here and there so we need to watch but Toby is just a gentle mushy giant..

How did we chose his name? Well, this little one went through two names before we finally settled on Alvin. At first I named his Atticus after my favorite literary hero, Atticus Finch from “To Kill A Mockingbird” but it just wasn’t rolling off the tongue well. Then, after watching him play with the bigger dogs I kept calling him “Arturo” because he reminded me of a six pound bull in a china shop and then it hit me. He has this black stripe that goes down his back and from behind he almost reminds me of a chipmunk and, he doesn’t listen very well and I thought.. Alvin! Alvin from Alvin and the Chipmunks! That Alvin didn’t listen very well and was always getting in trouble and so is this one. So, Alvin it is….He fits in nicely with us :).

Making Enemies Part II

banner-1

If you haven’t read part one of this mess I suggest you go here and catch up so this post will make sense.

After my neighbor gave me the finger as he was driving away, I waited a few hours for him to come home. I was ‘hoping’ I could catch him and maybe try and talk to him like an adult and explain why I did what I did.. Well I did see him leaving his house, I went outside and called his name, he looked at me, turned around, got in his car and drove off. At that point I said, “well Lord, I tried.”…..After stewing about it all day I thought to myself, you know, I understand why he’s upset. Not only did his dogs get taken away but he got a $400.00 ticket and has to go to court. He got a boatload of trouble thrown his way but, it was his own fault. He did this to himself. You would think he would have been happy I saved the lives of his dogs? I finally just let it go and figured well, sometimes doing the right thing will get you into trouble but I still won’t let that stop me from doing the right thing..

The next afternoon I hear someone knocking on my door.. guess who? The neighbor. I thought, “oh I am so not ready to deal with a confrontation right now”.. So I went on the porch and before I could open my mouth I got a very heartfelt apology from him for his behavior towards me. He said he was very sorry, regardless of what happened he had no right to treat me that way and he understood why I called the animal control. It was a dumb mistake he made and it was all his fault. I then proceeded to tell him how sorry I was that he got in so much trouble and that was not my intention. He told me I had nothing to apologize for. He explained to me what happened that morning. He was flea bombing his house, told his sixteen year old son to put the dogs outside in the cages and he was going to let them back in the house before he left but things got crazy in the house, his son was late for school, he was late for work and he forgot the dogs.  While I can say I do not thing I would ever be that absent minded (although I would never rule it out), I can understand how it could happen. Heck, there have been people who have had so much on their minds they have driven their cars away with their children in car seats on the top of the vehicle! So I get it…

The end result, we parted friends and exchanged phone numbers just in case I ever have to get in touch with him and vice versa. So sometimes, doing the right thing has consequences you never intended but when you leave it in Gods hands, He always makes things turn out for the good…
